Christmas Parties in London

Friday, November 30th, 2007 | London Living with No Comments »

It is that time of the year where every Londoner attends a Christmas Party of some sort. It will be our Christmas Party at work next Friday and I am actually keen on attending one of those as I did not attend any in the past couple of years. Booze always brings people together in a strange way.

I’m only going as we won’t see a Christmas bonus at all and the Christmas Party at work will be the only perks we’ll receive in this festive period. The Christmas time period brings a lot of distress to the police and ambulance services as they have to work twice as hard to keep the city functioning. Thousands of people drunk each day and causing havoc in London, I really take my hat of to them as they really pull their weight around London to make things all go at lot smoother.

You can do your part by arranging a taxi to take you home and know when to stop drinking. Simple things like that can really save you from a bad situation that could have been avoided. I am saying you should not have fun, we all like to have fun but everyone living in a major city with millions of people should take a bit more care when they consume alcohol any time of the day. You can never be too careful, stay safe and enjoy!

Experience London in the NOW

I am finally getting off my ass and doing something about the environment after my conscience keeps harassing me every time I hear or see a recycling advert. You know that you mean to do something but always forget about it until it reminds you again. Well, when you do move to London, and I hope that is soon, you will discover that life can be a rush at times but you really need to take a step back, take a deep breath and take things a bit slower and do the things you have been meaning to do.

I would seriously recommend you making some sort of a list of what you would like to experience in London or would love to go see and start doing them one at a time otherwise you would never get round to doing the things you want to do and that can make your time in London quite dull. We have been here for three years and it now only kicks in that we have been wasting time by not experiencing more of London. London is a great city and there is so much more to it than what you see in the papers or on television, believe me!

Dark London

It has been a strange few weeks. The cold has finally made its way to us properly and the darkness has kicked in. Yes folks, it is officially winter in London, where everyone will wear dark colours and hide. I think all Londoners go into hibernation, or wait, that is just the London Underground. London is now dark from 3 in the afternoon and the sun hardly lights up this brilliant city but that is no reason for us all to be miserable and gloomy.

There is still a lot to do in London now that it is winter. We have the Winter Wonderland starting in Hyde Park this weekend, a few ice skating rinks opening, Christmas markets, karaoke nights in the pubs, clubbing until you can not feel the cold anymore and so much more is happening in London. Just because it is now darker in London and winter is upon us we shouldn’t stop exploring and having fun.

P.S  - Feel free to vote on the polls, we’re quite eager to hear what you guys have to say!
