January Chaos

Monday, December 24th, 2007 | General with No Comments »

London has been experiencing terrible fog over the last couple of days and it has disrupted a lot of traveller’s plans for the holiday season due to delayed planes and blocked roads. Along with the fog came the cold off course as well as the wind, how joyous huh!

Here is a photo taken of the fog this weekend and a gentle reminder to stay safe when travelling around the holiday season. Oh, for those Londoners travelling in January, there are a couple of planned strikes at various airports. They have so far confirmed the 7th, 14th and 17th of January 2008 for their strike dates. Steer well clear of any airports at those times, it will be chaos!

Theatre Perfomance in London

We have never been to the theatre in London before but came close if that counts. A few friends have told me that you should go to Piccadilly Circus or Leicester Square for discounted tickets on the day to majority of theatre performances in central London. We went down there one Friday night to look at the options and were overwhelmed with choice that we missed the show starting times we actually were interested in.

That night I discovered that London has so many theatres that you will really need to do some research about what you want to see performed on stage and where they are located. A lot of people around me have been to a theatre performance and was blown away such as Wicked the musical, the Lion King and Bad Girls. There are many more popular theatre shows I’m probably missing but I am sure you can find cheap tickets in central London as well as on the popular website called lastminute.com; they always have great combo specials.

You are not experiencing London fully if you have not seen a performance at one of the many theatre houses in London.

Hot Competition / Freebie Tip

Thursday, December 20th, 2007 | General with No Comments »

You have to admit that we all love getting things for free from time to time. It happens to rarely that it gets us excited about stupid little things and we feel all “chuffed” with ourselves for getting a freebie. Weird, ain’t it?

Here is a little tip I have tried and tested, might work more wonders for you than it does for me but I must warn you that it requires a bit of effort. Create a new email account online using gmail or yahoo or even hotmail, whatever you prefer, it will be for spam and online offers. Try not to use too much personal information.

You then register at www.metro.co.uk and check out their “Gimme” section daily or weekly and sign up to their competitions. You then check out www.virginradio.co.uk, in their “freebie” section and sign up for their competitions. I’ve won like this twice now and I am definitely not going to stop as it increases my chances of winning. I have even found a few websites sending out free samples to people in London, now nothing is better than freebies in the post. There are tonnes of websites out there in London giving away stuff through competitions, it takes a second and you might be lucky enough to win big.
