I have discovered the brilliance of the charity shop about three years ago when curiosity got the better of me. We have no such thing as charity shops back home as people do not tend to throw away anything there. They are a great addition to every society when it comes to nailing recycling on the head. You can buy second-hand clothes, shoes, DVD’s, Games, Books and Sports equipment for next to nothing.

Charity Shops work on the simple principles that if you do not need any of those items, donate them to the cause in order for them to make a small profit on it. There are hundreds of charity shops in London and I love them because they normally have cheap books that are in a great condition. The charity shops do go through the donations and only sell the items that are still in a good condition. The rest they recycle to make a small profit. The local Hospices charity shops do tend to have the lowest prices on items. I have bought a lot of books for about £0.30-£0.50 each and that is a bargain.
Charity Shops are also good for when you are moving and you need to dispose of unused goods, they will take them if they are not electrical. Unfortunately they can not sell any electrical goods due to their insurance.
