Virtual Explore London Online

I stumbled across a nifty little feature whilst doing a bit of research on the best locations to live in London. Now, to some this may not be a new feature but it is definitely one of the best ones to use when you want to see more about a foreign country or city. There are actually a few methods you can use to see what it would be like, especially when you are planning to go to a 1st world country.

We have used a few methods to find out more information about places we were planning to go to and boy, it did help me find my way around or scope out the area we would be staying in. Technology is getting more advanced by the day and we should definitely make use of it especially when we are planning a move to a foreign country such as the United Kingdom.

The method I used was to go to Google Maps, type in London and zoom in. There are five menu icons on the map on the top left side of the map. Click on “More” and play around with the options. There is so much information to sift through; it will definitely keep you busy for a good few hours.

Another popular method would be to download Google Earth and explore London in the aerial view or you could combine that with Google Maps and clicking on the “Yellow Man” on the right side of Google Maps. You drag and drop this little yellow man on the map. A blue line will stand out; it will allow you to view the street in photo format.

I tend to use a combination of all the above methods as well as Flickr to see what other photos people take in that city to make a list of popular things to do and see. What can I say, I hate reading maps, I love looking at photos and memorise that better than a spot somewhere on a map.

So go on, you know you want to get right in there and explore London. Considering how many people live in London, you would be amazed at some of the things you find through these methods I pointed out above. Anyone got any other clever tricks up their sleeves to find information?
